Burwood Bird & Animal Hospital (BBAH) – Medication Dispensing Policy
- Non-prescription (over-the-counter)
- Sold in its original, unopened packaging
Why do I need to be a client to order this medication?
Many of the medications we supply are dispensed from larger containers that we open and repackage. Under the Agvet Code, we are only permitted to dispense medications from opened containers to animals that are under our (BBAH) direct veterinary care. This regulatory requirement means such medications can only be provided to registered clients of our clinic.
In summary: Original packaging + non-prescription = no client registration required. Opened containers or prescription medications = client registration mandatory due to veterinary regulations.
To comply with this regulation, we require your details to be registered in our veterinary software system via our New Client Form, along with relevant information about your animal(s) or flock(s).
Our veterinarians will then review your order to ensure the medication is appropriate for your situation. If an alternative treatment is more suitable, we may recommend a different product. In some cases, your order may need to be modified or cancelled to ensure the best outcome for your animals.
What if I don’t wish to become a client?
While many of our medications are restricted to patients under our care, we do offer a limited range of factory-sealed products available to the general public, such as:
Exzolt (50mL bottle)
Flubenol (600g tub)
If these alternatives do not meet your needs, unfortunately, we are unable to supply the product due to legal restrictions.
